This post will address a post that was put up on the Code Red Flag (CRF) Facebook page on February 22, 2014 by Dena Reid (see below). Dena Reid has made it known that she obtained her law degree from Georgetown, yet proceeded to defame me publicly. According to Google, libel is a published false statement that is damaging to a person's reputation; a written defamation. My separation from CRF had NOTHING to do with the partnership I agreed to and EVERYTHING to do with how I was was handled in regard to the book that we co-authored, Flag On The Play which can be downloaded and shared from this page for free. Let me begin by saying that I am not claiming to be a victim. My first experience as an author was horrific and I was the main reason for the debacle. I co-authored Flag On The Play without a contract in writing (just an oral agreement and FB messages outlining some of the details). Money has NEVER been an issue for me. I have a full-time (and very demanding, I might add) job, yet I had put a lot of my time, effort and talent into CRF and the book Flag On The Play. I partnered with CRF when the opportunity presented itself because I believed that the page was a cool concept and that I could learn valuable skills to one day begin my own brand.
Initially, Dena had planned to write Flag On The Play alone, but later asked for my help due to having writer's block. I wrote one chapter and she was so impressed that she asked me to continue writing. I was so excited to be writing that I kept writing and writing. The next thing I knew, I had written complete chapters, scenarios for her chapters and responses to her scenarios and mine! Although her company is the publisher, I was responsible for coming up with my own contract. Dena did front the money for the book, so I can see her being the publisher. However, she was going to collect as CRF, the publisher and an author after she recouped her money. Once she was paid from three different angles, she was going to give me 2.5% of the profits.
This is first and foremost about me getting the credit that I am due for writing a HUGE portion of the book, and also about being equitable. There is nothing equitable about the above deal. As you will see, my name has been minimized on the cover and it looks as though I just made a very small contribution to the book. She also took my picture and bio out of the "About the Author" section. This experience has taught me many things including, how to separate who a person is from what they do. There are times when good people make poor decisions ( I have made plenty). I once heard someone say that "hating someone is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die." Instead of wasting energy on disliking Dena and her brand, I have chosen to turn that negative energy into something more positive.
I am currently working on a non-profit organization called Project Downshift. The overall goal of the organization is to empower men and women to support each other mentally, physically and fiscally while building strong households and healthy children. I would like to help facilitate the shift away from the single parent household and bring the men back to their place as the head of the household. A man's confidence resides largely in being able to take care of his family. This belief system has been distorted by the idea that selling drugs and/or committing other illegal acts is a justifiable means to an end. The rate at which men are convicted and incarcerated for these acts has furthered this belief. This compromises a man's ability to obtain employment that will enable him to care for his family by legitimate means. Men desperately want to be bread winners and providers for their family. A husband and wife's relationship and how they fair spiritually, emotionally and financially are the foundations of the family. Their ability to love and support each other reflects directly on the children and has a huge impact on the outcomes of the next generation.

Hey #CRF, family. I wasn't sure whether to say anything and have been trying to take and maintain the high road but I just saw something disturbing and I feel I should say something.
As many of you know, last year I had a contest for folks to become an admin on this page. The admin was chosen and then I gave her a small percentage stake in the business.
Recently, she felt as though she should be getting more and I disagreed. After all, she was only with the business less than 6 months. I started it in 2012 and have put my own funds to grow it. She has not invested any money. Since she did not like the arrangement we parted ways.
Since then I'm guessing she's been telling people bad things about me and the way I handle business. Additionally, she has threatened to sue me.
Today I see that one of her friends left a disparaging remark about me on a post here. That friend has since been blocked.
I normally don't read the comments on every post here so I'm asking that if you see such a comment to tag me in the post so that I may take a screenshot to save it should we ever wind up in court and so I may ban the person for trolling.
